Three keys to success
There are many programs designed to help financial professionals become more successful. Sales training, sales systems, marketing approaches, seminar systems, and networking programs, are just a few of these aids to increasing performance.
Most of us measure success of a program by the results we obtain. In the case of poor or disappointing results, we usually find the difficulty in one of three areas:
1. Personal Time Management
2. Organizational Skills
3. Communication Skills.
Failing to master these areas may be what is preventing you from achieving your full potential. My advice is to engage the assistance of an experienced coach who can help you get on track and stay focused on what really matters. Succeeding in business is a process requiring all three keys, listed above. Of the three, the skill of effective communication is most often overlooked.
Let me use a couple of examples to explain further. What if you had the cure for every known dread disease but could not communicate effectively to people who needed to know about it? Your success would be limited as a result. A self-taught musician can eventually make music but not nearly as quickly and perhaps not as well as one who has had the benefit of instruction and coaching.
Insurance professionals, in particular, need to be master communicators. The insurance product is simple in what it accomplishes, but communicating effectively about life insurance and how it works, can be challenging. Do not try to master this skill on your own, get a coach! Your coach can become your partner in success. You will find that you can shorten the cycle to success and close the gap between where you are and where you want to be in business.
Next week, we will take a closer look at the first two keys to success: Personal Time Management and Organizational Skills.
