Self-Leadership Part three

The last of our Seven C’s of Self-Leadership is Communication.  This is where it all comes together.  The first six “C’s” have prepared us to take the final and, most important step, communicating effectively.

How will you effectively communicate what you stand for, the difference you intend to make, and the benefit(s) your clients will receive as a result?

Twitter, Facebook and other forms of social media, are communication, but mostly used to express opinion(s) or commentaries.  The communication, we are writing about, is that which conveys ideas and presents solutions to the client’s problems.  The value and strength of a client relationship is the direct result of how well you communicate, how well you understand your client, and how well you engage his/her thinking about your recommendations. Effective communication is a key to establishing and nurturing relationships.

Take time to develop your self-leadership.  Be clear about what you stand for; strengthen your conviction and commitment, master your craft, and make contact with those who will value what you bring to the relationship.  Commit to learning how to understand others and communicating more effectively.  Here is a quote from a noble Roman to encourage you:

“If you wish to persuade me, you must think my thoughts, feel my feelings, and speak my words.” – Roman Statesman (and attorney) Cicero
