Lifelong learning
Never underestimate the importance of learning. Focusing your mind and expanding your thinking is essential in improving performance and personal effectiveness. Continuing education for insurance and investment professionals is now required by every state. As professionals, we must continue to learn new approaches to problem solving and are obligated to do so in the best interest of serving our clients.
Currently, I am in the process of completing the requirements to become a certified master coach. The purpose is to become stronger in providing unparalleled results for my coaching clients. This certification is neither easy, nor inexpensive, but absolutely essential. It will enable me to be more effective in using the tools of my trade. This is to say that, I am being stretched, or in this case, I should say, it is my mind that is being stretched!
It is spring here, in the midwest, and there is more yard cleanup work than ever. Hard work, trimming, cutting, hauling, digging . . . you know the routine. It causes sore muscles because they are being stretched. But the stretching has a side benefit; it makes the muscles stronger and more flexible.
The same thing happens when we stretch our minds, by disciplining ourselves to devote the time it takes to advance our studies and keep up-to-date in our field. It hurts a little, but we become stronger and more flexible. The primary benefit is in our ability to provide higher levels of service to our clients. They are counting on us to improve their situation and maximize their financial security.
So, go ahead and stretch your mind. Enroll in advanced studies, related to your interest and specialty. You are a professional and your clients deserve the best you have to offer.
“Without continual growth and progress,
such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning.”
~ Benjamin Franklin
