Crisis Averted

This post is personal, as it is an update to the medical condition of our son-in-law, Alex. Many of you know that he was diagnosed with lymphoma, last January. His lymphoma was the aggressive, fast-spreading type that can be fatal, but responds well to treatment, if caught early. He was in Stage I in January, which was good, meaning it was caught early. Now, after chemotherapy and a month of radiation treatments, we are eagerly awaiting the results of a full body scan to verify that the cancer is gone.

These past months have been trying for the entire family but especially for Alex. He has shown remarkable resilience, courage, and strength throughout the period. Events like the one he is enduring, always change people and bring out the true character.

There is a business corollary in this story. Every day is an adventure and how we experience that adventure makes all the difference in the world. In our business role as financial professionals, we help our clients deal with financial issues related to the daily adventure of living, and sometimes with the reality of dying. For the average family, owning life insurance can mean the difference between financial security and financial disaster. The same can be said about health insurance and disability insurance, as well.

Ours is a noble calling! People desperately need our help even though they sometimes reject it. We can make a difference! One limitation to the difference we can make is how many people we choose to offer our services to. Don’t hesitate. Don’t hold back. Take definitive action and offer to help as many people as possible while you have the time and energy to do so. The first step on the road to success is to have the courage to take a stand. Do something courageous! Offer your services to anyone and everyone who will listen. What are you waiting for . . .  a crisis? It’s too late then. All you can do at that point is to say, “If only I had . . . . . !”.
