Power of choice

Recently, I read about a simple formula regarding choices we make. The guiding precept is that what we choose need not depend on what we think is possible. WOW! How many times do we seem to make choices from a list of possibilities? Why not choose what we really want? Here is a simple formulaic approach that will get you started using this idea:

  1. Describe your current reality.
  2. Describe the results you want.
  3. Formally choose the results you want.
  4. Then move on: change the focus of your attention; shift gears; do something else.

This bit of wisdom comes from Robert Fritz’s book, The Path of Least Resistance, published in 1984.

In this country, we enjoy our freedoms. You know them all, don’t you? Yet, perhaps the greatest freedom we have is not found in our Constitution nor in the Bill of Rights. That freedom is the freedom of choice. Think about it. We can choose to do anything, choose to go anywhere, choose to become anything, or choose to think whatever we want. Unbelievable freedom of choice! But, do you exercise this freedom? Do you choose exactly what you want or do you settle for what seems reasonable and readily available? The choice is yours! You have the power to express your freedom by choosing whatever it is that you really want. And that my friends, is the key. You must decide for yourself; make your own choices, and then move forward to making it a new reality.

Decide today that you will choose whatever you really want and then get on with it. What are you waiting for, someone to decide for you?
